\n\nNext to the entrance of the left aisle, a painting by Ign\u00e1c Roskovics depicts the\npatron saint of the Esztergom Archdiocese, the former bishop of Prague, St.\nAdalbert (956-997). The martyred bishop visited Hungary in 994-995, baptising\nand christening St. Stephen. Adalbert died a martyr's death on the 23rd of April\n997 during the conversion of the Baltic peoples (the spears on the altarpiece\nindicate this). His body was buried in Poland. In 999, he was canonised by Pope\nSylvester II, from whom the Hungarian monarch received the royal crown that\nsignified its independence.\nIn 2003, the glass window was decorated with the figure of Saint Lip\u00f3t (1073-\n1136), the patron saint of Austria, who gave his name to the former temporary\nparish church (and the district). In 2012, the altar cross was replaced by a\nreliquary bust with a rib bone of Blessed Charles IV (1887-1922), the Hungarian\nApostolic King (Emperor of Austria and King of Bohemia) and the last monarch\nof the Austro-Hungarian Empire. On his shoulder is the decorative collar of the\nRoyal Hungarian Order of St. Stephen which was founded in the 18th century.\nThe Emperor Karl Prayer League is a tribute to the confessor monarch in\nCentral Europe and throughout the world.\n
