Altar of Holy Cross

The large altarpiece in the transept depicts the crucified Christ in a poignantly beautiful painting by Gyula Stettka. The painting is unique in that, wherever you view it from, Jesus' knees are always facing you. The statue of St. Francis of Assisi, a gift from Emperor Franz Joseph I, is on the left. On the right, is a statue of St. Alexis of Gonzaga, donated by the congregation. Both statues are the work of Alajos Stróbl. On the tabernacle is a work by the teacher Géza Herpka, depicting life and death, and on the right, the Pietá scene from the Tree of Life. The semicircular glass window above the altar shows the coat of arms of the Holy See.
Az oltár fölött a félköríves üvegablak az Apostoli Szentszék címerét ábrázolja.
