The St. Stephen’s Basilica besides the liturgical events provides concert venue for choirs and orchestras. Besides the acoustics, the fascinating view of the interior, architecture creates a special attraction for both visitors and performing artists.

Concert Venue and Seat Capacity
The concert venue is the main churchall of the Basilica. There is no heating in the church, which means that neither the pews nor the sanctuary are heated, which can cause difficulties, especially in January, February and March.
Earliest possible start of the concert during the day: 10:00
Latest possible start of the concert during the day: 16:00
Earliest concert start in the evening: 20:00
The Basilica is open to tourists from 9:00 to 17:40. If a concert and/or rehearsal takes place during this time, tourists stay inside the church. The free movement of performers will be cordoned off.
Inside the Basilica every day Holy Masses are celebrated between 18:00 and 19:00. The space of the Church must be replaced in an adequate condition for the Holy Mass by 17:30 the latest. After the Holy Mass we can provide the space at the disposal of the concert to complete the necessary preparations by 19:00 the earliest.
Maximum seat capacity: 800 persons
Seat capacity in pews and chairs: 540 persons
Extra seats: 260 persons
The number of seats shall be taken into account when inviting and registering guests. Wishing to invite more than 530 people to the concert, must be used the extra seats. Standing place is not available due to escape routes and safety regulations. Seats are not numbered, sectors can only be allocated. The Lessee is responsible for marking them. Please note that due to disaster management regulations, no more than 800 people will be admitted to the concert. There is no possibility for standing places because of escape routes and other
security measures. The seats are not numbered, only different sectors can be formed. The

security measures no more than 800 persons can be admitted to the concert..
In case of every concert the visit of the venue is required to discuss technical detailes and conditions.

Repertoire
The repertoire of the concert is always has to be approved by the Music Committee of St. Stephen's Basilica (hereinafter the Committee). This is a condition for holding a concert in the Basilica. Please note that the Basilica is a sacred place and not all themes and musical styles are appropriate for it. In principle, we expect sacred works appropriate to the place, mainly classical, which texts do not contradict the teaching of the Catholic Church. The decision on the repertoire will be made unilaterally by the Committee on the basis of its own sacred music criteria. The final program will be approved via email. In certain cases, the texts and notes of the pieces may be requested. In certain cases the lyrics of the songs and the music sheets can be supervised as well.
Entrance
Admission of guests at the daytime concerts
Latst start of concerts: The space of the Church must be emptied from the technical equipments, staff, audince until
17:30 the latest.
Admission 1. option: entranc through the main entrance with church hall ticket.
Since the space is limited in front of the Main Entrance and always crowded with tourists,
admission is possible by buying a ticket for th church hall.

Sound Effects
The Saund-System of the Basilica is basically adjusted to speach, to spoken words of Holy
Masses and liturgical events. In case during the concert the choir/orchestra requires a special Saund System, it is the obligation of the Organizer to install the necessary devices. a Technical spectionon the spot before the concert.It is possible to use the sound system of the Basilica if necessary.

In case of evening concerts the Organizer must be aware that possibility the technical installation must be removed or dismantled to a certain degree,so as not to disturbe the Mass. The degree of the removal will be decided by a staff member of th Basilica during a Technical Inspection before the concert.
